Drool Monkey – 100% Certified Organic Cotton

You learn something new every day.

When Kam Corkin introduced me to her young company, I learned not just one, but two things. 1) what a “lovie” is and 2) how easy it is to be drawn to a product with such a cute name.

Kam is founder/CEO of Drool Monkey Organics, makers of fine-quality, eco-friendly baby products, and specializing in organic hankies and teething lovies. What’s more, the heirloom-quality lovies are made from a custom-woven wicking fabric that helps prevent drool and teething rash. Simply knot the corners to give your baby relief from those growing pains, too.

Kam designed the first Drool Monkey as a practical solution for her drooling baby. “When my first child was three months old and started putting everything in her mouth,” she tells me, “I knew I had to find a non-toxic solution that was easy to keep clean.” Her organic and sanitary products quickly became sought after by all her friends,  so she started her Monterey, CA-based business right as her second child was born. “It’s been a roller-coaster trying to launch a product during such a busy time in my life, but it’s been magical to watch my son use the product that I invented for my daughter three years ago.”

We also just had our first celebrity sightings. Selma Blair has been photographed using her Drool Monkey. Ali Landry just tweeted a photo of her son, Marcello, snuggling his Drool Monkey.

I’ll let Kam tell you what makes Drool Monkey so unique:

  • Made from custom-woven organic cotton fabric, it is amazingly luxurious and soft. The best part is that it can be washed and dried every day to keep it clean and sanitary without any piling.
  • Multi-purpose Cloth Teether, Burp Cloth, Sleep-Aid (absorbing Mom’s scent), Blankie and even a Nursing Cover or Sun Shield – all in one.
  • Teething Relief – Tie a cube of ice in the extra fabric for baby to chew on (works like a mesh feeder but doesn’t get baby wet); tie knots in the corners for baby to chew on – it even comes with two removable ribbon tethers
  • Each Drool Monkey comes packaged in an organic cotton snap front wristlet bag complete with a free gift tag.
  • A gift that Mom will find extremely useful from the newborn stage all the way into the toddler years.
  • Designed by a Mom for a Mom

My own two kids are kitty-kids … but I’m convinced even my cats would appreciate a Drool Monkey. I know I would!

T-Shirt Transcendence

Can a t-shirt actually help a child develop self esteem? My Kinda Style t-shirts just may give kids the kind of positive reinforcement they need to feel great about themselves.

My Kinda Style is a children’s knitwear brand of t-shirts and one-pieces with hip, witty and empowering graphic messages. Made from soft organic cotton with a tagless design, they not only provide endless hours of comfort, but are also made to encourage positive self esteem in children.

Shayla Mackey is the creative force behind My Kinda Style, and knows first-hand how important self-esteem is, especially for girls. While raising her daughter all on her own, she finished college with a degree in Business Management; in fact, Shayla was inspired by her daughter’s love of art and fashion to start the business.

We pay close attention to the details that both kids and parents want in a clothing line, from carefully choosing the perfect fabric texture and colors to dreaming up the next empowering themed messages and designs.

Oklahoma-based My Kinda Style is no ordinary t-shirt maker; as a community volunteer and an active member of her church, Shayla is also passionate about using her business to give back to communities.

“Not every child has the opportunity to have new clothes,” Shalya says. “While clothing is a necessity, a brand new t-shirt to a child in need takes on a whole new meaning; it can give him confidence, make her feel noticed and important, and overall teach a valuable lesson that when they’re in need, there are people who care to help.”

T-Shirts That Give. On this page of the website, folks can nominate a deserving child or children who can benefit from a new t-shirt by telling Shayla and the team at My Kinda Style their story. “We believe that something as simple as a t-shirt really can change lives. We want to do our part to make their dreams come true.”

TANE organics introduces T2

Three-year-old TANE organics launches T2, a beautiful organic line for preemies.

TANE organics, a children’s luxury brand known for beautifully designed pieces made from the purest materials, is launching a capsule collection of essentials for preemies. The T2 collection is a natural extension of TANE’s dedication to providing clothing that is pesticide free, hence limiting newborns and toddlers exposure to toxins. It’s being débuted for wholesale partners at ENK Children’s Club, going on in New York right now, and will soon be available in stores.

Designer Sheree Lee uses 100% certified organic cotton to create the TANE organics collection for newborns up to two years. Signature silhouettes, colors, fabrics, stitches and the easily coordinated designs are what distinguish this modern collection.

The health benefits of offering organic cotton clothing for preemies is tremendous. After spending time with twin nephews, born as preemies, my natural instinct was wanting to envelope and dress them in the purest materials.

-Sheree Lee

The new T2 collection is available in two sizes: 0, fitting 3-5 lbs, and size 1, fitting 5-8 lbs, in just four simple shapes, and modern neutral colors.

TANE, which means seed in Japanese, takes inspiration from the kimono shape. The emphasis on design with thoughtful construction and details provide comfortable fit while maintaining performance through time and play.

Company folks blog that they can’t wait to share the new inspiration, colors, textures and shapes of the Fall/Winter TANE collection. “The new collection is already getting a lot of buzz, especially with the launch of T2, using the purest organic cotton.”

Sheree and her New York City-based company believe the customers are as important as those who crafted the garments. The connection with Peruvian artisans supported by fair trade practices echoes TANE organics’ commitment to the planet and its people. Every purchase supports the vision of a cleaner, kinder earth with positive production footprints.

Woolly Boo

Woolly Boo essential baby products make life easier for parents and heavenly for baby.

Whether it’s naptime or nighttime, Woolly Boo® Infant Sleep Sacks wrap little ones in luxury. Made with organic wool filler, which is layered with un-dyed natural cotton for breathable, hypoallergenic softness. A single color cotton fabric is sewn inside, followed by an outside fabric -usually a durable, easy-to-maintain damask- and it is finished off with a zipper. All seams are protected so that they do not irritate a child’s skin. Can also act as a wearable blanket.

The best way to maintain the Woolly Boo® Infant Sleep Sack is by exposure to fresh air. Spot clean. Air dry flat.

“We do not recommend washing wool unless it is absolutely necessary, as traditional detergents strip away many of the natural benefits of wool. In extreme cases, soak the product in cold water with a capful of white vinegar or use a cleaning solution that is specifically designed for wool. You can also wash it in a machine that has a specialized ‘wool’ or ‘delicate’ cycle.”

Woolly Boo also makes Crib Bumper Pads, Toddler Travel Pillows and Crib Mattress Pads/Toddler Pillow/Comforter Sets, too. All available in cotton Damask, cotton twill and cotton flannel in prints and solid colors.

Skylar Luna débuts at ENK Children’s Club

Designer Wen C. Reese is débuting Skylar Luna, an in-stock, organic pajama collection for Fall 2011, at ENK Children’s Club -offering retailers year-round availability.

“Through my experience in children’s wear, I know that value is key for retailers today. With Skylar Luna, retailers get a high‐quality product at reasonable prices.”

-Wen C. Reese

She describes the line as “soft, organic cotton washed in a sophisticated palette using simple designs,” choosing organics because children wear pajamas close to the skin for many hours each day. “I wanted a product that was as pure as possible.” The collection is available in sizes 12‐18 months to size 8 for both boys and girls, and meets CPSC guidelines. Features snug‐fitting, two‐piece bodies constructed of yarn‐dyed,100 percent organic cotton and flat seams. Each set packaged in reusable linen pouches. The launch collection features stripes in eight color combinations including a holiday-themed combo perfect for Christmas pajamas, a bubble print and a hand‐drawn robot motif. New colors and prints released twice a year, wholesaling for $17. “Because we ship all the time, stores can try the collection out right away with minimum risk and easy, immediate reorders.”

Wen also owns and designs the Skylar sportswear label, a family business, and like it,  Skylar Luna is produced in the family factory in China. This arrangement ensures the line is always delivered on time and offers consistent, superior quality.

See Skylar Luna at booth#2211 during ENK Children’s Club July 31-August 2.
